About the Business

In the early 1930's the firm moved the company to new premises in Overstone Road, Northampton. In the late 1950's it was taken over by John Glanister who was managing director until 1995 handing over to his son Robert Glanister. A J Tear then moved to Round Spinney, Northampton in 2005 and is now located in Moulton Park, Northampton under the new name of Alfred Tear Fine Furniture Ltd with Robert Glanister as managing director.

We continue to make furniture to the same high standard using traditional methods and materials. Frames are made from selected hardwoods and are made to order which allows for each piece of furniture to be tailor made to your specific requirements.
